The tubing is extruded from P.T.F.E. (polytetrafluoroethylene), which has many properties, including chemical inertness, extremely low coefficient of friction (i.e. non-stick), non- toxicity, odourless, flavourless, fire-retardant and unaffected by ultraviolet light.
PTFE Tubing has many uses in chemical and general industries in situations where aggressive fluid or environments are involved. It can also be used as a protective sleeving for cables and also as a substitute for nylon tubing where pressures allow. PTFE has excellent resistance to organic solvents, acids and alkalies, weathering and high or low temperatures and is ideal in demanding situations. it is often used ad a lining for industrial hoses (see leaflet No T62, T63 and T66) where its non-stick surface gives increased flow rates and reduced friction. The product has excellent non-flammability.
